The name "Rumpolt" for this restaurant comes from the top chef Marx Rumpolt, who wrote the first textbook for fine, professional cuisine in 1581. He was the mouth chef to the Electors of Mainz, who often stayed in the Weyberhöfe. Thus, Rumpolt's culinary art has always been associated with the Weyberhöfe.
