The name "Rumpolt" for this restaurant comes from the top chef Marx Rumpolt, who wrote the first textbook for fine professional cuisine in 1581. He was the chef of the Electors of Mainz, who often stayed in the Weyberhöfe. Thus, Rumpolt's cooking has always been associated with the Weyberhöfe.
